KPDSB trustees pass budget

By Tim Davidson Jul 7, 2025 | 10:50 AM

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board says it’s budget for next year will actually shrink compared to this year.

The board of trustee passed a budget of just over $121 million at a special meeting late last week.

That’s 1.4 percent, or $1.7 million less than last year.

One of the biggest reasons for the decline is a loss of $2 million in Jordan’s Principal Funding.

The public-school board is also planning on a $13.4 million capital budget.

The biggest item is a new school for the tiny community of Savant Lake, which is expected to cost almost $4.7 million.

The school in Ignace and the high school in Dryden are also scheduled for roof replacements.
