Couchiching First Nations man appointed to Canadian Human Rights Commission

A lawyer hailing from Couchiching First Nations is now serving as a part-time Commissioner with the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

Brian Eyolfson was appointed for a three-year term.

He has been a practicing lawyer since 1994, focusing on human rights.

He is also a part-time Commissioner with the Ontario Human Rights Commission.

As part-time member of the Canadian Human Rights Commission, Eyolfson will be assigned to cases and renders decisions on human rights complaints within the federal jurisdiction.

Eyolfson also served as a Commissioner with the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and as Acting Deputy Director in the Legal Services Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Indigenous Relations.
