A 28-year-old U-Haul driver is facing impaired driving charges after making threats with a tire iron and fleeing from police.
Police say it was around 10:45 p.m., Friday, when the man was threatening people who he didn’t know with a tire iron on George Street in Halifax.
He left the scene before police got there and was driving so fast officers stopped pursuing him over safety concerns.
It was about a half hour later when police responded to a crash at the intersection of Connaught Avenue and Quinpool Road in Halifax.
The U-Haul allegedly hit another car. The driver then ran away but was found close by and was arrested.
The driver of the car that was hit was hurt and taken to hospital.
The U-Haul driver is facing charges that include resisting arrest, dangerous operation of a conveyance, impaired operation of a conveyance and flight from police.
