St. Stephen mourns loss of Coun. Earle Eastman

The Municipal District of St. Stephen is mourning the passing of one of its newest councillors.

Earle Eastman has represented Ward 3 since 2023 after winning a seat in the inaugural election.

In a statement, the municipality said Eastman worked tirelessly to ensure the interests of rural citizens were kept at the forefront.

“During his years of service, Councillor Eastman demonstrated a strong commitment to our community and its residents,” CAO Jeff Renaud said in the statement.

“He will be remembered as a thoughtful, diligent individual who worked hard to make a difference. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those impacted by this difficult loss.

Before his time on council, Eastman had a 33-year career in the military as a trained technologist in the electrical and mechanical engineering field.

Eastman promoted fiscal restraint, good governance and emergency preparedness, and was a staunch proponent of transparent and accountable government, said the release.

Additionally, he was a staunch proponent of transparent and accountable government, earning the respect of colleagues and residents for his integrity and commitment to good governance.

“Councillor Eastman was a mentor to many, and will be remembered for his service to our country, our community, and his contributions to the Municipal District of St. Stephen,” said Mayor Allan MacEachern.
