It’s Day 1 of the Maritime Junior C Hockey Championship.

The event in Barrington runs until Sunday at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena.

The first game of the day features the Nova Scotia champion East Hants Penguins against New Brunswick’s Tri-County River Cats.

The opening ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the host Southwest Storm taking on PEI’s Sherwood Metros.
