Third Street to be shut down in May

By Randy Thoms Apr 23, 2025 | 11:04 PM

Heavy machinery is being moved into place for the planned rebuild of Third Street in Fort Frances.

The four-lane section between Central and York Avenues will see new water and sewer lines and improved road surface.

Bay City Contractors is doing the work for more than $5 million.

A large portion of the cost is being covered with government funding.

The section of Third Street will be shut down starting the week of May 5th.

Traffic will be rerouted around the construction zone using Fourth Street, with westbound traffic connecting back to King’s Highway using Webster Avenue.

Eastbound traffic will use York Avenue to connect to Fourth.

Parking restrictions will be in place along Fourth from Webster to Central Avenues and in the 800 block of Webster while the detour route is in place.
