The North McIntyre Recreation Centre is receiving some funding from the provincial government to expand programming.

The facility is receiving $166,300 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

“With this funding, we will be able to provide more opportunities for the children in our community to learn, grow, play and develop a greater sense of belonging among their peer groups,” explained Board President Dan Baxter. “We look forward to expanding our programming and services in the community.”

The OTF supports non-profits, Indigenous communities and small municipalities to expand the programs and services they offer.

Applicants can apply for funding of $100,000 to $600,000 over two or three years to expand, improve or adapt an existing program or service.

“In Thunder Bay and all across Ontario, non-profits are delivering critical services that enable people to train for new careers, stay active, learn new things, and connect with their community,” said the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming Stan Cho. “This investment helps ensure local non-profit groups can build on their successes and expand in ways that benefit communities across the province.”
