KV High wins another Reach for the Top provincial title

Kennebecasis Valley High School’s Reach for the Top team has set a new provincial record.

The senior team clinched the provincial title for the 18th time in the last 20 seasons over the weekend.

KV High won on the last question of the game, defeating Moncton’s Bernice MacNaughton High School 280-270.

The winning team included Mackenzie Brideau, Maya MacVay, Gabrielle Mullett, Tess Nason, Allie Ruttan, Calvin Sheeler and Josiah Valentine.

They will now represent New Brunswick at the nationals taking place in Calgary, Alta., in May. KV High won the national title in 2010, 2011 and 2016 and has finished in the top five on 15 occasions.

In the intermediate division, Rothesay Netherwood School won gold and Saint John High School took home silver.

Meanwhile, in the Grade 9 to 10 division, St. Stephen High School placed first while KV High finished in second.
