A driver is facing charges after running from city police.
Officers were sent to Victoria Avenue East on Tuesday evening after receiving reports of a potentially impaired driver.
When officers arrived in the area, they located the vehicle and spoke to the driver, observing signs of impairment.
The driver then started their vehicle and fled the scene.
Other officers saw the vehicle driving into oncoming traffic to pass other vehicles.
There was no police pursuit in the interest of public safety.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle and arrest the suspect a short while later.
As a result, a 22-year-old has been charged with the following:
- Impaired operation of a vehicle
- Flight from police
- Dangerous operation of a vehcle
- Resisting arrest
The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
No information was provided on whether the accused is being held in custody or not.
