A 53-year-old woman has died after her snowmobile hit a moose on the Acadian Peninsula.

RCMP said they received a call about the crash on a trail near Leech shortly before midnight on Wednesday night.

The woman, who was the only woman on the snowmobile, died at the scene.

She was from the nearby community of Petit-Tracadie, according to Mounties.
