Premier Susan Holt will lead a group of New Brunswick business leaders on a three-day mission to Washington, D.C., starting Tuesday.

This mission highlights how working together can strengthen the economic ties between Canada and the United States, according to a government news release.

“Our economies support workers and businesses on both sides of the border in sectors like energy, seafood, forestry, agriculture, and aquaculture,” Holt said in the release.

“We’re going to Washington to highlight the benefits of this partnership for our economies and communities.”

The delegation will meet with congressional delegations, senators, and other representatives to emphasize the importance of a stable North American economic partnership.

Holt will be joined by Luke Randall, Minister responsible for Opportunities NB and for economic development and small business.

Participating businesses and organizations include Cooke Aquaculture, J.D. Irving, Limited, New Brunswick Crab Processors, Mrs. Dunster’s, and Potatoes New Brunswick.

“We work closely with New England governors and eastern Canadian premiers to benefit our workers, businesses, and people,” Holt said.

The premier will also be part of the Council of the Federation’s mission, which includes all 13 provincial and territorial leaders, to show American leaders the benefits of a stable North American economic partnership.
