Parts of northwestern Ontario are bracing for significant snowfall this weekend.

A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for places like Atikokan, Shebandowan, Quetico Park, Seine River Village, Mine Centre, Upsala and Raith.

Environment Canada said 10 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected starting Saturday afternoon.

“While snow will continue into Sunday morning, the worst conditions are expected this afternoon and evening,” said the advisory, issued on Saturday morning.

Motorists are urged to be prepared to adjust their driving to changing road conditions.

Meanwhile, further east, a snowfall warning is in effect for Thunder Bay, where between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow is expected.
