If you are having trouble paying your heating bill, you can now apply for some help.
The 2025 Home Energy Assistance Top-up (HEAT Fund) is a partnership between Nova Scotia Power, the province and The Salvation Army that provides up to $400 for those who are eligible, every two years, to help keep your house warm through the winter.
It is administered through The Salvation Army.
The province contributes $800,000 annually, but this year, Nova Scotia Power has significantly increased how much they will give to $300,000, to try and reach even more people in need.
In a news release, the executive director for The Salvation Army, Major Terence Hale says the fund is essential to help those facing emergency home heating situations.
“We have more people asking for our help every day, and this generous support will make an impact for thousands.”
