A Middle Musquodoboit, N.S., man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen pickup truck in Shediac, N.B.

New Brunswick RCMP say they were made aware of the stolen vehicle from their Nova Scotia counterparts around 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Ford F150, allegedly taken from the East Hants region of Nova Scotia, was travelling west on the Trans-Canada Highway toward New Brunswick.

Police located the vehicle shortly after on Highway 2 but the drive allegedly fled from officers at a high rate of speed.

Officers on the ground did not give chase but RCMP Air Services continued to follow the vehicle from above.

The vehicle stopped and the suspect crossed both highways before entering a wooded area, according to police.

A 27-year-old man was located and arrested by RCMP Police Dog Services a short time later.

He was later released and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court at a later date.
