The Denis-Cormier hockey tournament finals will be held at the TD Station arena in Saint John for the first time.

The arena is home to the Saint John Sea Dogs, offering an exciting and professional venue for the event.

The seventh edition of the tournament will host 23 high school hockey teams from across the province this weekend.

Teams from both francophone and anglophone schools will compete for the coveted Denis-Cormier Cup.

These teams are divided into both AA (16 teams) and AAA (seven teams) divisions.

Games will be held at three arenas in Saint John:

  • Stewart Hurley Arena
  • Peter Murray Arena
  • Lord Beaverbrook Rink

The ceremonial opening game will be held at Lord Beaverbrook Rink on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The AAA finals will be held at 4 p.m. at the TD Station on Sunday and the AA finals will follow at 6 p.m.

John Boutot, the athletic director and a new member of the tournament organizing team, expressed his enthusiasm for the event.

“The community and the people that I’m working with are so proud and want to keep continuing with this tournament,” Boutot said.

The tournament’s Facebook page will provide updates in both official languages, allowing families and fans to follow the action online.

Boutot explained players will receive identification cards to encourage interaction and sportsmanship among teams.

The event is in memory of Denis Cormier, a prominent figure in the Saint John community known for his dedication to youth and hockey.

His legacy continues through his family’s involvement, with his son Maxim actively organizing the event and presenting awards.

The tournament promises an exciting weekend of hockey action, community spirit, and the celebration of Denis Cormier’s legacy.
