Druhan: Province committed to addressing intimate partner violence

The province says they’re taking the issue of intimate-partner violence seriously.

The government met with a coalition committed to addressing the rising number of cases.

There have been seven people murdered in Nova Scotia since October.

Justice minister Becky Druhan says it’s a society-wide issue.

“We need to collaborate to get answers to this. It’s entrenched, and we need to approach it and deal with it in a different way. That’s what our meeting was about, and we’ll address this at future meetings as well,” said Druhan.

She says voices of victims need to be heard.

Druhan adds that they want to make an impact.

“We’ll work with the coalition on that, they can help guide us and let us know if the steps we’ll be taking are working.”
