New waste collection routines in southeast N.B.

By Alex Allan Jan 17, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Residents in much of the southeast region will soon have changes to waste collection schedules and procedures.

Eco360 will take over waste collection from a number of municipalities starting on Feb. 3.

“This change will help make routes more efficient,” said Communications Officer Marc AndrĂ© Chiasson.

This will not affect residents of Moncton, Riverview, Dieppe, and Memramcook, who will maintain their current collection schedules.

The changes include new collection days for different zones.

In Zone 2, recyclables (blue bags) and organics (green bags) will be collected as follows:

  • Monday: Tantramar / Strait Shores
  • Tuesday: Cap-Acadie
  • Wednesday: Shediac

In Zone 1, garbage (clear bags) and organics (green bags) will be collected as follows:

  • Wednesday: Three Rivers
  • Thursday: Maple Hills / Salisbury
  • Friday: Fundy Albert

For Salisbury and Maple Hills residents, the rotation of bag colours will also change.

Chiasson highlighted a new bulky waste collection service will also be starting.

“One large item, like an appliance or a piece of furniture, can be collected every other week alongside regular garbage,” he explained.

This service replaces the previous seasonal special collections and allows more frequent disposal of large items.

Chiasson noted that collection of these items may take up to 24 hours depending on their size and type.

You can check the full event schedule and details on their Mobile Eco-depot program.

Eco360 will also send alerts through their app to help residents transition smoothly to the new schedules.

“We want to make sure we reach as many people as possible with these updates,” Chiasson added.

Residents with questions can find information on Eco360.
