Two N.B. men arrested, RCMP seize firearms

Two men have been charged after attempting to flee police.

RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 1 in Oak Bay at around 1:50 am on December 10.

The driver tried to elude police by doing a U-turn into oncoming traffic.

Officers laid a tire deflation device, but the vehicle continued at a low rate of speed.

It finally came to a stop on Loop Road in Upper Mills.

A 40-year-old Hartland man and a 26-year-old St. Stephen man were arrested.

The driver is facing charges of:

  • Resisting arrest
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime overĀ $5000
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Weapons possession contrary to an order and failure to surrender authorization
  • Failure to comply with a probation order
  • Driving motor vehicle while being prohibited
  • Flight from police

A passenger is charged with:

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime overĀ $5000
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Weapons possession contrary to an order and failure to surrender authorization
  • Failure to comply with a probation order
  • Assault of a police officer with a weapon

Both will return to court at a later date.
