Charges Laid After Police Cruisers Damaged During Potlotek Protest

By Natalie Chiasson May 1, 2026 | 9:41 AM

Charges have been laid after police vehicles were damaged during a protest in Potlotek last month.

The incident followed a search by officers at a Mi’kmaq-owned cannabis storefront. Police later left the area on foot, citing safety concerns, and abandoned several cruisers at the scene.

The vehicles were recovered the following day and found to be damaged. RCMP body armour was reported missing, and firearms were later seized during follow-up searches.

Four men are now facing charges in connection with the incident. They are scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury provincial court on June 11.
