The inmate who escaped a jail in New Brunswick has been arrested.

It was last month when the man who was the subject of an emergency alert escaped the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac.

New Brunswick RCMP say he was taken into custody in Moncton.

It was just after 5 p.m., February 12 when the 35-year-old escaped the jail by jumping the fence. He ran off toward Route 15. He had been previously charged with weapon related offences.

Police thank the public for their assistance.
