Irving Shipbuilding has plead guilty to a charge of failing to meet safety standards after a man was killed at the shipyard in Halifax just over two years ago.

Jamie Knight, 43, was hit and killed by a large snowplow at the Irving Shipyard on Feb. 19, 2024.

The company was charged in July of 2025, and on Friday, the company plead guilty to failing to create a snow removal safety plan, which falls under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Sentencing is set for April 24.
