The Tri-Counties stepped up again during the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation’s ‘WE CARE’ Radiothon.
Thursday’s 10th annual broadcast on Y95 raised over $143,000.
The money is going toward the purchase of an automated tablet packager for the pharmacy department.
The current one is nearing its end of life, around 15 years.
Angele Scott is the manager of pharmacy operations.
She says if this machine were to fail, they’d have to get shipments from Kentville or Bridgewater.
“It would be a burden to their workload, and extra costs because you’d have to have all those medications couriered. Not an ideal situation, that’s why this is so important,” Scott.
She thanks everyone who donated, and says she can’t wait for the new packager to be in action.
Clinical pharmacy manager Maggie Arenburg says the unit is essential.
“It takes every pill and puts it into individual package, which makes it easier for nursing as it has important information on each package,” said Arenburg.
She thanks the community for their support, and adds it’s great to see so much awareness around the importance of healthcare.
The broadcast was live from the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
