A man and a woman were arrested after an attempted hit-and-run on a police car.

RCMP got a report of an impaired driver who had left a business in Elmsdale on February 16. The officer tried to pull them over on Highway 2 toward Fall River, but the driver didn’t stop and sped up.

When the officer activated sirens and lights, the driver rammed the police vehicle, then tried to back up and drive away but lost control and ended up stuck in a snowbank.

The 48-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were both taken into custody. The man who was driving faces multiple charges. They’ve since been released, and the man is due in Dartmouth Provincial Court on April 28.
