Former African N.S. church to be revitalized

By Kevin Northup Feb 11, 2026 | 11:50 AM

A historic African Nova Scotian church is being restored.

The Mount Beulah United Baptist Church in Weymouth got over $450,000 from the province to help it re-open.

The money goes to the Weymouth Falls Community Land Trust.

MLA Jill Balser says it will help breathe new life into the church, and make it a community hub once again.

The group says the funding will help make the building energy efficient, and honour the cultural significance of the church.

The church opened in 1921 and closed in 2015.
