A Halifax man is facing child pornography charges using artificial intelligence.

Police say it was in September when they learned someone was using AI to create and share child sexual abuse material.

Tuesday, a home was searched and the suspect was arrested.

At this stage, no evidence suggests any real children were used or harmed.

The 69-year-old appeared in court today facing these charges:

• Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
• Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
• Making Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
