A local curling team needs your vote to help them secure first place in a story contest.

Yvonne MacDonald competes on a family team called The Socialites.

They are the first all-female team to win the MacDonald Bonspiel at the Canso Curling Club on the 50th anniversary.

The bonspiel was started in 1975 in honour of her grandfather.

She shared their big success story in the Curling Day in Canada’s contest and is hounoured to be the only team from Nova Scotia to make the top 20.

“It’s honestly an honour. There’s a lot of amazing stories out there, so to have ours recognized nationally, definitely means a lot to our family and it’s so great to get the word out about our bonspiel,” share MacDonald.

“I just like to say thank you to everyone who supported our story, everyone at the Canso Curling Club who keeps this event going year after year. This Bonspiel is about family, community and keeping huge tradition alive.”

You can vote for their story on the Curling Day in Canada website.

The contest winners will receive a trip for four people to the 2027 Brier in Saskatoon.
