Halifax Regional Police have announced Highway 111 is reopen to traffic following multiple collisions Tuesday morning.
The highway inbound from the MacKay Bridge was closed from Portland Street to Main Street while crews cleared the collisions.
According to Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency’s incident feed, the first accident was reported at approximately 6:49 a.m., with the second about four minutes later.
A caller to Acadia Broadcasting said there was multi-vehicle pileup over the median heading into Halifax, and a similar pileup in the same location heading toward Shearwater. The caller also said a large truck appeared to be on its side near Main Street.
The caller said there were at least four ambulances and multiple police and fire vehicles.
There is no word on any injuries at this time.
Police are reminding drivers to slow down and leave extra space between you and the vehicle in front of you to make sure you can safely slow down or stop.
More to come.
