Man shot by police faces charges after threatening officers with knife

A 37-year-old man is facing a list of charges after threatening police with a knife on Quinpool Rd.

Police say it was Saturday evening when he had allegedly robbed two liquor stores in Halifax: one on Grafton Street and the other on Quinpool Road.

When police tried to arrest him, he threatened them with a knife.

An officer shot at him after a taser was not effective.

He and sent to hospital with life threatening injuries but was expected in court today to face these charges:

  • Robbery (x2)
  • Assault peace officer with a weapon (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (x3)
  • Breach of release order (x5)
  • Resist peace-officer
  • Fail to attend court

The shooting is being investigated by SiRT.
