A celebration of a re-opened bridge in Weymouth.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Gates Lane bridge is happening Saturday at 2 p.m.

The bridge opened to traffic in October, it closed in January, 2024 after a structural assessment determined it was no longer safe for public use.

A meeting was then held in the community, and the province developed a plan for a Bailey bridge to replace the aging structure.

MLA Jill Balser says the ceremony is a time for the community to come together and celebrate.
