YASTA encouraged over 2025 tourism season

Tourism revenue was up slightly in our region in 2025.

Numbers are still coming in, but data until the end of September shows some growth.

That’s according to Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association executive director Neil MacKenzie.

He says room nights sold were down a bit.

“Only about one percent compared to 2024, where we had the Congres Mondial Acadien, which was a huge success. We have a few headwinds with the U.S. market, I think we’re doing well considering everything,” said MacKenzie.

MacKenzie is encouraged by the high number of American visitors still coming to the area.

He says that shows the Canadian brand is resonating south of the border.

“The American market stayed strong, and that shows the importance of the CAT ferry. We want to continue to grow that market as much as possible.”

He says looking ahead to 2026, they’ve got a few cruise ships lined up to visit the area.

Yarmouth will also host the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities conference in the Spring, and MacKenzie says they’re always looking for more events to boost tourism numbers
