WorkSafeNB seeks input on updated disease policy

By Alex Allan Jan 5, 2026 | 2:41 PM

WorkSafeNB is asking New Brunswickers to share their views as it reviews its occupational disease policy.

The agency said the policy guides how it determines whether a worker’s illness is caused by their job and whether they qualify for benefits.

WorkSafeNB said the review aims to make the decision‑making process clearer, reflect current medical and scientific standards, and keep its list of recognized diseases up to date.

One of the proposed changes is a new appendix that lists every disease WorkSafeNB recognizes as work‑related.

The appendix includes two newly added diseases and is designed to make future updates easier as research evolves.

WorkSafeNB said public input will help ensure the policy remains fair and reflects what workers, employers and health‑care providers are seeing in today’s workplaces.

The agency has posted the current policy, the proposed revisions and explanations of the changes for review.

Feedback will be accepted until February 4.
