There were some notable weather events across the country in 2025 that brought heat, ice and some extremely dry conditions.

6. Snowstorms in eastern Canada
Storms that hit in February from Ontario to Newfoundland with areas in Quebec that received 53 cm
5. Major ice storm in Ontario
In March there was prolonged freezing rain in Ontario and Quebec
4. Heat wave and dry conditions in Manitoba
Temperatures spiked to more than 35 degrees with wildfires that spread more than 100,000 hectares
3. Thunderstorms in central and eastern Ontario
The storms knocked out power in late June to tens of thousands
2. Drought conditions through the country
Nova Scotia experienced its worst drought in 50 years through the summer and fall
- Second-worst wildfire season on record for Canada
Wildfires burned more than 89,000 hectares mostly across Saskatchewan and Manitoba
