A sold-out crowd in Halifax to watch professional women’s hockey.

The Montreal Victoire defeated the Toronto Sceptres 2-1 in a shootout in front of over 10,000 at Scotiabank Centre.

It was the first stop on the PWHL’s Takeover Tour.

Some of the loudest cheers of the night were for Nova Scotians on the ice.

Sceptres captain Blayre Turnbull is from Stellarton, defender Allie Munroe calls Yarmouth home.

Munroe and Turnbull walked into the building wearing Team Nova Scotia jerseys with a bagpiper playing.

Both head coaches are also Nova Scotian, Troy Ryan of Spryfield leads Toronto and Kori Cheverie of New Glasgow coaches for Montreal.

Some of the biggest cheers also came after signs were shown in the crowd, one featured the Nova Scotian flag and read ‘We want a team!’

The city will host another league game between Ottawa and Boston next month.
