Warm, wet and windy system targets southern N.B.

By Alex Allan Dec 17, 2025 | 5:05 PM

Southern New Brunswick is in for a spell of warm, wet and windy weather.

Environment Canada said a fast‑moving system will arrive Friday afternoon.

The federal weather agency issued the advisory Wednesday afternoon for Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton, St. Stephen, Grand Manan, Fundy National Park and surrounding counties

Environment Canada said the system will move in Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday afternoon.

Forecasters added that temperatures will be unusually warm for mid‑December.

The agency expects at least 25 millimetres of rain, along with southerly wind gusts that could reach 80 to 100 kilometres an hour.

The combination of rainfall and melting snow may lead to significant runoff and possible flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage, according to Environment Canada.

The agency also warns that strong winds could break tree branches and damage utility lines.

Travellers may face delays, as Environment Canada is advising people to check transit, ferry and flight schedules ahead of time.

Environment Canada recommends clearing gutters and storm drains of snow, ice and debris, and securing loose outdoor items that could be blown around by the wind.
