A new pilot project will be unveiled in early 2026, focusing on mental health concerns in downtown Moncton.
Codiac RCMP is partnering with Vitalite and Horizon Health Networks for the program.
Each day, an officer will pair with a mental health worker to patrol the downtown, and they’ll make contact with individuals who are struggling.
This is an extension of the Mobile Crisis unit.
“This model that we dub Car 67 has seen immense success in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. We are emulating their project that worked so well out there, into the Codiac area,” Superintendent Benoit Jolette told Moncton City Council this week.
He adds that he will have more details at a later date.
