Th’YARC is getting a major facelift.

Funding is on the way for Yarmouth’s playhouse and theatre.

It’s going towards new seating, flooring and accessibility upgrades.

Acadie-Annapolis MP Chris d’Entremont made the announcement at the venue on Parade Street.

He says it’s been needed for a long time.

“We can support some renovations inside, fixing heating issues they’ve been having and getting seating that’s far more comfortable. We’re doing this so the Th’YARC can continue to be a cultural hub for our area,” said d’Entremont.

Ottawa is giving $324,000 while the province will provide $163,000.

Yarmouth MLA Nick Hilton says they’re happy to contribute.

“I know the arts council here has been working for almost two years on this project. It’s great to see this project come full-circle, and I’m looking forward to seeing the improvements next year,” said Hilton.

Work is expected to take place next summer.

Both levels of government also gave money to the Yarmouth International Airport.

The Yarmouth International Airport Corporation is receiving $56,494 from Ottawa to hire expertise to develop a growth plan targeting aerospace, defense, and private industry, the province gave $15,000.

The fed also announced over $50,000 for the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association to help attract cruise ships and train French-speaking tour guides.
