Nova Scotia is going to take stab at improving congestion along the Halifax peninsula.
Public Works says a request for proposals was issued, Wednesday, for a consultant to look at how to do just that.
“Our government is exploring solutions to move people and goods through the Halifax peninsula, faster,” said Public Works Minister Fred Tilley. “This review will examine key streets to improve and balance how cars, transit options and heavy trucks can move as safely and efficiently as possible.”
The work involved, includes using a tool that simulates how, when and where people travel.
In addition, a review will look at number of things such as how to access the peninsula from the west side of town, how to improve heavy truck traffic to and from Halifax Port Authority facilities and the most efficient ways to move through constrained corridors.
This means any changes that happen could affect the direction of traffic on key streets or prioritizing certain modes of travel.
The project is connected to the work happening on the Highway 102.
Those interested have until January 22 to submit proposals.
