Mariners excited to host MHL All-Star and alumni event

The best players in the Maritime Junior Hockey League are coming to Yarmouth.

The MHL All-Star Game is happening next Wednesday, December 10.

Yarmouth Mariners forward Jared Pitman is one of four on his team that have been selected.

Pitman says it’s an honour.

“I can’t wait to see all the fans here and my family, being from Yarmouth it’s exciting to play in these games. I know my teammates (on Team Eastlink South) and the rest of the guys are excited too,” said Pitman.

He joins defenseman Jano Zambakdjian, goaltender Keegan Warren and captain Justin Garneau on Team Eastlink South.

The night before, many Mariners from the past will be here for an alumni game.

It will celebrate the 23-year history of the franchise in Yarmouth.

Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says both games are worth the price of admission.

“Ticket sales are a bit slow right now, so I hope everyone recognizes what a big deal this is to have the MHL talent here, along with our alumni. I’ve been lucky enough to coach in a few all-star games, and they’re phenomenal events,” said Barron.

Two guest NHL alumni will also take part, Brian Skrudland and Duane Sutter.

They will play in the alumni game, and be guest coaches on the respective benches during the all-star game.

Tickets for both events are on sale at the Mariners Centre box office.
