A 39-year-old man is facing weapons charges after an intense manhunt over the weekend in the Halifax area that prompted three emergency alerts.
RCMP say it was just before 10 a.m., Saturday, when officers responded to a report of a man with a sawed-off shotgun on Oldham Road.
They learned the man was last seen getting into an SUV.
An officer, who found the vehicle, attempted a traffic stop but the suspect got out of the car and ran into the woods.
Over the next few hours law officials looked for the man and found discarded clothing, brass knuckles, a shotgun shell casing and ID along the way.
The man was spotted by a drone, running along the Nine Mile River around 1:00 p.m., and was arrested.
A man facing a similar description had stolen items from a business earlier that day.
The suspect has been charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Fail to Comply with Release Order (two counts)
- Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order
He is also facing three counts of failing to comply with a release order related to a previous investigation.
He will appear in court, Wednesday.
If anyone has information about his movements on Saturday, between 9:30 a.m. and 1:10 p.m., you are asked to call RCMP.
