Barrington’s new recreation centre is almost ready to open.

The new ‘RecPlex’ on Sherose Island will have a community open house from January 5-18.

You’re invited to drop in, walk the new indoor track and explore programming opportunities.

Barrington Warden Shaun Hatfield says they’re excited to have this open to the public.

“It’s been a bit of a slow process and there have been delays, but this is a one-of-a-kind facility in southwest Nova Scotia. It’s a bright, welcoming space for the community,” said Hatfield.

Booking reservations will begin on December 9.

Hatfield says it’s for the public.

“This will be a valuable connecting point for our community on so many different levels. There are many activities that the public will be able to host there.”

Construction on the building next to the arena began in the spring of 2024.
