An American woman who went missing near the border crossing in Woodstock over the summer has been found dead.

Western Valley Region RCMP announced the body of Gretchen Fitzpatrick of Hyannis, Mass., was located near Chapmanville.

The 57-year-old was last seen July 14 near the Woodstock border crossing.

Her vehicle was recovered Sept. 7 deep in the woods in Chapmanville, about 30 kilometres northeast of Florenceville-Bristol.
