The feds have created a panel of industry leaders to unlock Atlantic Canada’s economic potential.

The goal is to meet with people in region “to hear what is working, what is holding the region back and where Atlantic Canada can win,” according to a news release.

Sean Fraser, MP for Central Nova and Minister of Justice, says the feds want Atlantic Canadians to get their fair share of opportunities in the region.

“This work cannot fall on government alone and I am thankful these leaders are stepping up for our region,” said Fraser the release.

He has has appointed seven members, including:

  • Dom Mills, President of Crane Cove Holdings and co-founder of Narrative Research
  • Cathy Bennett, co-founder of Sandpiper Ventures
  • Joyce Carter, President and CEO of Halifax International Airport
  • Mike Cassidy, CEO of the Cassidy Group, which owns Coach Atlantic and Maritime Bus
  • J. Scott McCain, chairman of McCain Foods
  • Chief Terry Richardson of Pabineau First Nation
  • Anne Whelan, CEO and principal shareholder of Seafair Capital

They will meet with people in the region to hear what is working and what is holding us back economically.

By the end of summer 2026, they will present their final recommendations.

Fraser says the report will give practical steps to grow jobs and support small and medium businesses.
