Quispamsis considering new development in downtown

By Bryan Tait Nov 22, 2025 | 5:16 PM

Quispamsis council will consider a rezoning application for three acres of prime real estate in the downtown.

A proposed development at 213 Hampton Road would bring 150 residential units and more than 20,000 square feet of new commercial space.

The land is vacant and currently zoned central commercial. The proposed rezoning would make it integrated development.

The development would be three buildings, two of which would have commercial space on the ground floor.

Andrew Dunn, speaking for the developer, said the project would bring hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax and utility revenue to the town, as well as bringing more people to the downtown core.

Each building would include five affordable units and three accessible units each.

Dunn said the target market for the residential units is seniors, and the units would be “very senior-friendly.”

Council voted to consider amending the zoning bylaw and municipal plan to allow for the project.

The 30-day public comment period is now open. Written comments regarding the amendment may be made to the council until Dec. 18. The proposed amendments can be viewed in the town clerk’s office, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
