Marc Roy has been appointed New Brunswick’s consumer advocate for insurance, following a motion passed by the legislative assembly.
Officials said the Office of the Consumer Advocate for Insurance was created in 2005 to answer questions, investigate complaints and provide public education about insurance, according to a government release.
Roy studied law at the Université de Moncton and was admitted to the Law Society of New Brunswick in 1994.
The release noted he has worked as a lawyer since then and served on several provincial agencies, boards and commissions.
The government stated that Roy’s appointment is for a seven-year term, effective December 11.
