Crews will soon begin work to add another lane to the Highway 102 off-ramp in Bedford.
The province says they will start Thursday, and the project includes improving sightlines by reducing blind spots for the southbound off-ramp to Hammonds Plains Road, according to a news release from the province.
Work will take about six weeks, and the existing off-ramp will be widened to separate the right and left turning lanes.
The exit will stay open for most of the construction, but drivers should be prepared for some delays and temporary closures throughout.
Crews will start clearing the land beside the ramp and next week they will start blasting to create more space for the lane. Blasting will happen once a day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. During blasting, Highway 102 before Exit 3 and Hammonds Plains Road will close for about 10 minutes.
Some work, like paving, will happen at night to minimize the impact on traffic.
