N.B. government planning elimination of vehicle registration stickers

New Brunswickers could see the use of vehicle registration stickers eliminated.

The provincial government has introduced legislation for amendments to the Motor Vehicle Act and related regulations.

If passed, it would remove the sticker requirement by the spring of 2026.

This would impact all vehicles, including off-road and commercial vehicles.

Drivers would still have to renew their registration annually, but enforcement officials would confirm registration electronically.

The government says eliminating licence plate stickers will simplify the registration process, reduce costs and save time.

Renewal reminders would continue to be sent out by mail or email, and will be available by text in the coming weeks.
