Lower Flinn Park in Halifax getting de-designated as tent site

By Caitlin Snow Nov 5, 2025 | 2:32 PM

Another tent site in HRM is no longer a designated encampment.

The city says those sheltering at Lower Flinn Park in Halifax received notices, Wednesday, and have until Sunday, December 7 to go to an indoor option or to a designated location.

Those sleeping rough at this site will be offered resources and support, including transferring or storing their belongings.

According to HRM, there is an increased capacity for indoor shelters and housing options that provide a warm space with heat, electricity, running water, showers, laundry and regular meals.

As of October 30, city staff determined there were 59 tents and four trailers around the city in designated locations.

Designated encampments were a temporary measure established in 2022 to address an immediate need for those who had nowhere to go.

The Geary Street encampment was de-designated at the end of May.
