The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to apply for positions across several boards, committees and commissions.
These groups consist of councillors, residents and industry representatives.
According to an HRM release, they provide recommendations to Regional Council, community councils, standing committees or municipal staff and serve as an important part of the decision-making process.
Committees of Council
There are 40 volunteer opportunities across the following committees of Regional Council:
- Accessibility Advisory Committee
- African Descent Advisory Committee
- Board of Police Commissioners
- Grants Committee
- Heritage Advisory Committee
- Point Pleasant Park Advisory Committee
- Women and Gender Equity Advisory Committee
- Youth Advisory Committee
The municipality says it is seeking board, committee and commission members that are reflective and inclusive of residents from across the municipality. Applicants from Black/African Nova Scotian communities, youth, women and gender diverse individuals, persons with disabilities, Indigenous persons, Francophone/Acadian, newcomer and 2SLGBTQ+ communities are encouraged to self-identify.
