Number 16, forever.

Yarmouth baseball legend Keith Bridgeo had his number honoured on the backstop at Gateway Park.

The late Bridgeo was a Team Nova Scotia player, as well as a coach and umpire in all levels of the game.

At the ceremony, host Frank Grant talked about his legacy.

“The tales of Keith’s big hits, and his blazing fastball. Lots of stories are passed around like folklore at ballparks across the country, and Bridgeo number 16 had many big plays and moments in his career,” said Grant.

Bridgeo’s family, former teammates and players he coached were in attendance.

His wife Jan says he had an impact on the community.

“There are probably few baseball families in this part of the province that haven’t been touched by his dedication, his knowledge, ability, and his ability to teach and inspire,” she said.

Bridgeo became the ninth person to be honoured at the park.
