The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation is marking 60 years of philanthropy with a gala event.
The celebration, called A Night Among Friends, will be held Saturday at the Delta Beauséjour in Moncton.
The evening will feature a champagne reception, dinner, live and silent auctions, and a performance by comedian James Mullinger.
Frances LeBlanc, president and CEO of the foundation, said the milestone highlights the hospital’s role in the community.
“I’m always surprised by how the Moncton Hospital touches the lives of most of us either directly or indirectly … it really does have a profound impact and roots here in Moncton,” she said.
LeBlanc explained that more than $100 million has been invested in health care projects through donor support over the past 60 years.
She added that the anniversary is also about recognizing the people who have carried the work forward.
“We have an incredible, dedicated team of professionals, some of which have been with us for over 25 years,” she said.
“They work closely with our donors to make sure we are building alignments with the needs in the system.”
Recent initiatives supported by donors include the Jean Elizabeth Saunders Irving Obstetrics and Newborn Care Unit, which opened in May, and a new coronary care unit expected to open in 2027.
LeBlanc said the foundation is also focused on future priorities in cancer care, women and children, brain health, mental health and innovation.
The event will also recognize long‑time supporters, including the Hospital Nurses Auxiliary, which was the first group to donate to the foundation in 1965.
